Beam combined high energy/high power laser system operating at a repetition rate over 10Hz for laser fusion driver using stimulated Brillouin scattering phase conjugate mirrors

چکیده
The authors developed a novel method for phase controlling of a stimulated Brillouin stimulated scattering wave (SBS wave) by a single concave mirror which is the most simple way ever found. The beam combination of small lasers using the SBS-phase conjugate mirrors enables the development of the unlimitedly high energy/high power laser operating at high repetition rate that is the same as the composed small laser’s repetition rate. The phase controlling accuracy with the long term stabilization method was shown experimentally less than λ/50, which is quite high enough to be able to apply this technique for developing a laser fusion driver. In this paper the experimental results on this feasibility will be presented in detail and the real laser fusion driver system will be proposed.

Beam Combined Laser Fusion Driver using Stimulated Brillouin Scattering Phase Conjugation Mirrors
Beam combination method using stimulated Brillouin scattering phase conjugation mirrors (SBSPCMs) is a promising technique for the real laser fusion driver, which can be operated with a high repetition rate over 10 Hz. The phase control of the SBS wave is essential for realization of the coherent beam combined output. For this reason, we proposed a novel “self phase control technique” of the SB...

A high repetition-rate e-beam pumped Krypton fluoride (KrF) laser has been developed as a prototype of future IFE driver. A combination of power supply with high voltage magnetic switches and e-beam diode cooled by water and self heat-radiation is generating e-beam at 0.5 Hz. Laser oscillation at 1 Hz with output energy over 20 J is expected in near future. Intense short pulse (> 10 J, ~3 ps) h...
متن کاملPulsed 1.55 μm all-fiber laser combining high energy, ultranarrow linewidth and optimal spatial beam quality
In this letter, we report on the study of a new all-fiber laser source suitable for coherent Doppler LIDAR use in the eyesafe domain. The laser consists on a MOPA configuration where the Master Oscillator is a modulated ultranarrow (< 8 kHz) fiber laser. The optical amplifiers are also all-fibered and make use of a new Large Mode Area (LMA) index pedestal fiber that is very effective in limitin...
